Julia Pröll (University of Innsbruck)

Julia Pröll is an Associate Professor of French Literature and Cultural Studies at the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Innsbruck. She has been a Humboldt-Fellow at Saarland University and she is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Research Center Medical Humanities. Her main research interests in the field of the Medical Humanities currently concern French-speaking physician-writers as well as the depiction of illness and medicine in the texts of French-speaking migration authors, especially from Asia.

Maria Heidegger (University of Innsbruck)

Maria Heidegger is a Senior Scientist at the Department of History and European Ethnology at the University of Innsbruck and a member of the Advisory Board of the Research Center Medical Humanities. She conducts research in the fields of psychiatric history, medicine, body and pain history, sensory and emotional history, and – with a view to medicine and beyond disciplinary boundaries – music, sounds, and religion.

Katharina Fürholzer (University of Rostock)

After positions in the medical ethics (University of Ulm) and comparative literature (University of Pennsylvania), Katharina Fürholzer has been the scientific coordinator of the department "Aging of Individuals and Society" at the University of Rostock since 2022. She approaches the interfaces between literary and life sciences from a decidedly ethical perspective. Current research focuses include (representational) forms of language impuissance as well as the role of ethics and aesthetics in the context of postmortal dignity.
